About Wealth and Personal Banking

Wealth and Personal Banking serves millions of customers worldwide through our branch network, call centres, and digital and mobile banking. We also connect institutional and retail clients with investment opportunities through our Global Asset Management division.

Simpler, faster, and more efficient. These are the underlying principles of the Wealth and Personal Banking IT team. To help us achieve this, we are developing a new online banking service with improved security, improved experiences, and improved features. The purpose is to provide Wealth and Personal Banking services to HSBC’s customers across browser, mobile and tablet and continue to evolve how we connect and interact with our customers. About the role

As a Cloud Full Stack Developer Intern working within our Wealth Management Technology team, you will design, development and support deployment of Wealth technology for HSBC Bank Canada and the rest of the world. RoboAdvisor, Stock Brokerage and Wealth planning solutions are just some of the many technologies we are moving to the Cloud.

You will also work alongside senior technologists at HSBC to learn how we do it. Our intern opportunities are designed to allow for creativity and autonomy to design and continuously improve what we do. We are very interested in learning from you too. Some of our previous interns have changed the way we operate.

Opportunities only available for an 8-month placement starting as early as March and April 2022.


Responsibilities:

As HSBCs newest Full Stack Developer Intern, you’ll have a chance to gain exposure to:

  • Cloud: Amazon Web Services & Google Cloud Platform
  • ReactJS, Java & Linux
  • Application Programming Interface (API)-led connectivity including Mulesoft & NodeJS
  • Databases design including Oracle, PostgreSQL & SQL Server
  • DevOps Tooling including GitHub & Jenkins
  • Jira, Confluence, Slack, Splunk, AppDynamics, Selenium & Junit

You will also:

  • Use the latest User Interface (UI) technology to build 'mobile first', responsive and adaptive single page applications
  • Demonstrate prior exposure to, and through the internship, further develop
    • User interface development
    • Web application development
    • General Object Oriented Design and Development
    • Continuous Integration (CI)/Continuous Delivery/Deployment (CD) – tools such as Jenkins, Git and GitHub
    • Debugging and troubleshooting skills
  • Learn why adherence to and enforcement of development standards is critical to developing financial products
  • See first-hand the value of automated test cases as you increase depth and scope to help improve software quality
  • Experience agile at scale, with Canada and globally based colleagues
